Teacher Recruitment Scam: Money Involved in Supernumerary Posts! New Turn in Teacher Recruitment Scam

Teacher Recruitment Scam: The teacher recruitment scam case has taken a new turn with the CBI’s recent statement in the Calcutta High Court. The central investigation agency has reported that a significant amount of money was also exchanged for appointments to supernumerary posts in the upper primary level. This development raises fresh questions about how deep the roots of corruption have penetrated the state’s education system.

CBI’s Sensational Revelation

The CBI informed the court that it has found evidence of monetary transactions for appointments in the supernumerary posts for Physical Education and Work Education. However, the agency requires the court’s permission to file an FIR in this matter. A green signal has not yet been received from the state government, which is causing delays in the investigation process.

Court’s Observation and Stay Order

Previously, Justice Biswajit Basu had issued a stay on appointments to these supernumerary posts. Although this ruling was challenged in a division bench, the higher court upheld the stay order. The case is also currently under consideration in the Supreme Court. The apex court has put a stay on the CBI investigation into the state cabinet’s role in creating these extra posts.

Here are some key points to highlight:

  • Monetary Transactions: According to the CBI, money was taken from candidates for appointments to the supernumerary posts.
  • Investigation Hurdles: The CBI is unable to proceed with the investigation due to a lack of court permission and state cooperation.
  • Stay on Appointments: Both the Calcutta High Court and the Supreme Court have put a stay on the appointment process for these supernumerary posts.
  • Origin of Posts: It is alleged that nearly 6,000 supernumerary posts were created after the corruption in the 2016 recruitment process came to light.

What Does the Future Hold?

The next hearing for this case is scheduled for July 4th. The future of thousands of job aspirants in the state now depends on the court’s verdict. While deserving candidates are waiting in hope for jobs, the web of corruption has put the entire system under scrutiny. All eyes are now on how the state navigates this situation and whether the guilty will be punished.
