Aadhaar App: No more need for photocopies of your Aadhaar card. UIDAI’s new mobile application, the Aadhaar app, has made your life much simpler. From now on, you can access all the benefits of your Aadhaar card right on your smartphone. From hotel bookings to buying a new SIM card, everything is now possible with just one app on your phone.
What is the Aadhaar app?
The Aadhaar app is an official mobile application launched by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). With this app, you no longer need to carry the physical copy or a photocopy of your Aadhaar card. You can prove your identity simply by scanning a QR code.
How to Download and Register?
Using the Aadhaar app is very easy. You can download and register the app by following the steps below:
- Download the App: First, go to the Play Store on your phone and search for “Aadhaar app”. Download the official UIDAI app (which is about 50 MB in size).
- Registration Process:
- After opening the app, choose your preferred language (e.g., English or Bengali).
- Enter your Aadhaar number.
- Send an SMS to 1947 for registration.
- Next, you will need to complete face authentication. For this, place your face within the circle on the screen and keep your eyes still.
- Finally, set a 6-digit PIN as your password.
Once the registration is complete, the app will display all your Aadhaar card information, such as your photo, address, and date of birth.
App’s Advantages and Limitations
You will find several services in the Aadhaar app. These include:
- Downloading Aadhaar.
- Ordering a PVC card.
However, since the app is new, some features are not yet fully functional. For instance, services like updating your name, mobile number, or date of birth are not yet available. As the app is new and has a high number of users, you might occasionally face some technical glitches.
