Shramshree Scheme: State’s Big Announcement! ₹5000 per month for migrant workers, along with job opportunities

Shramshree Scheme: The West Bengal government has announced a new scheme called “Shramshree” for the state’s migrant workers. The main objective of this project is to welcome back all the workers who want to return to Bengal due to harassment for linguistic or any other reason in other states, and to show them the path to become self-reliant within the state.

Main Objective of the Scheme

The Chief Minister has stated that Bengali workers in other states often face oppression and deprivation, and even death. The “Shramshree” scheme has been launched to change this situation. Through this, the government will bring back migrant workers, provide them with job opportunities according to their skills, and help them become financially self-sufficient.

What benefits are available under the ‘Shramshree’ scheme?

Several facilities will be provided to the returning workers under this scheme:

  • Financial Assistance: A one-time travel allowance of ₹5,000 will be given to each worker for returning home, and a monthly allowance of ₹5,000 will be provided until they find a new job (for a maximum of 12 months).
  • Skill Development and Training: Returning workers will be given free training through the “Utkarsh Bangla” scheme.
  • Employment Opportunities: These migrant workers will be issued job cards under the “Karmashree” scheme.
  • Self-Employment Opportunities: For those wanting to start a business or any other venture, opportunities for loans on easy terms will be made available from the Minority Development Corporation, SC-ST-OBC Development Corporation, and the “Udyaman Swanirbhar Karmasansthan Prakalpa.”

The Path Forward

The “Shramshree” scheme is not just an initiative to bring back migrant workers; it is an effort to further strengthen West Bengal’s rural economy. Through this, it will be possible to use the state’s own human resources for its development.
