• Step 1: First, visit the official UIDAI website (https://uidai.gov.in/).
• Step 2: Click on the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab and select the ‘Aadhaar Lock/Unlock’ option.
• Step 3: Now, select the ‘Lock UID’ option and enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, full name, and PIN code.
• Step 4: Next, fill in the captcha code shown on the screen and click the ‘Send OTP’ button. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
• Step 5: Enter the received OTP in the designated field and submit. Your Aadhaar card will be successfully locked immediately after.

Steps to Lock Aadhaar Card via SMS:

• Step 1: From your registered mobile number, type `GETOTP` followed by a space and the last four digits of your Aadhaar number, and send it to `1947`. (Example: GETOTP 1234)
• Step 2: You will then receive an OTP.
• Step 3: Now, type `LOCKUID` followed by a space, the last four digits of your Aadhaar number, another space, and the 6-digit OTP, and send it again to `1947`. (Example: LOCKUID 1234 123456)
• Step 4: After sending this message, your Aadhaar card will be locked, and you will receive a confirmation message.

How to Unlock Your Aadhaar Card

When you need to use your Aadhaar card, you can easily unlock it. For this, you will need your Virtual ID (VID). You can unlock your Aadhaar through the UIDAI website or via SMS.
