SSC Scam: Explosive Testimony in Teacher Recruitment Scam, Ex-SSC Chairman Points at Partha-Mukul

SSC Scam: The state’s teacher recruitment corruption case is in the headlines once again. This time, the courtroom is abuzz with the testimony of Chittaranjan Mondal, the former chairman of the School Service Commission (SSC). His explosive statement has brought to light several sensational pieces of information that experts believe could be a turning point in the case.

The Core Incident

Three crucial cases related to the teacher recruitment scam are being heard together. In these cases concerning the recruitment of teachers for classes 9th-10th, 11th-12th, and Group-C staff, Chittaranjan Mondal’s testimony as the first witness was nothing short of breathtaking. In his statement, he directly pointed the finger of blame at the state’s former Education Minister, Partha Chatterjee, and the then-influential leader, Mukul Roy.

Chittaranjan Mondal’s Explosive Allegations

In his court testimony, Chittaranjan Mondal made several explosive claims. Let’s look at the main points of his allegations:

  • Pressure for Illegal Appointments: Mr. Mondal clearly stated that he was under immense pressure to issue illegal appointment letters. He mentioned that Partha Chatterjee and Mukul Roy were behind this pressure.
  • Summoned and Pressured at Home: He alleged that Partha Chatterjee even called him to his residence to exert pressure on this matter. He was continuously pressured to complete the recruitment process illegally.
  • Resignation Before Term End: Unable to succumb to this immense pressure, Chittaranjan Mondal resigned from his post as SSC chairman before his term officially ended. He left the position after two and a half years, which lends credibility to his claims.
  • Political Connections: He stated that he was the president of the Trinamool Congress’s education cell before 2011 and became the SSC chairman at the Chief Minister’s behest. However, he also admitted to joining the BJP in 2019 and being the chairman of the BJP’s manifesto committee for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He claimed, however, that his testimony was completely apolitical.

Heated Moments in Court

During Chittaranjan Mondal’s testimony, a heated argument broke out between the CBI lawyer and the lawyers for Partha Chatterjee and Santiprasad Sinha. The situation became so tense that the honorable judge had to intervene to calm everyone down. This incident once again proved the importance and tension surrounding this case inside the courtroom.

Expert’s Opinion

Advocate Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya commented on the matter, stating that it is a common tactic for the accused in corruption cases to deny the allegations. However, he praised Chittaranjan Mondal for speaking the truth despite the potential risks. According to him, the fact that Mr. Mondal had mentioned this pressure in an interview back in 2022 strengthens his current testimony.

It goes without saying that Chittaranjan Mondal’s testimony has added a new dimension to the state’s teacher recruitment corruption case. The entire state will now be watching to see which direction this case takes in the coming days.
