Bhaskar Ghosh faces ruler’s wrath? Bulldozer razes DA leader’s under-construction ashram!
Bhaskar Ghosh: Bhaskar Ghosh, the convener of the Sangrami Joutha Mancha and a prominent face of the Dearness Allowance (DA) movement, is currently facing a dire situation. He has always been vocal against various corruption allegations targeting the state government. Now, an allegation has surfaced that, as a consequence of his protests, an under-construction ashram of his has been razed by a bulldozer. This incident has created a new stir in state politics.
Dreaming of Creation Amidst the Ruins
In an interview, when Bhaskar Babu, sitting on the debris, was asked about the reason for this demolition, he directly blamed the DSP authorities and the ruling party-backed state government. In his words, “Sitting amidst the ruins… we dream of creation. At least, I do.” His statement indicates that while he is mentally distressed by the incident, his will to fight remains unbroken.
A Dream Shelter for Orphaned Children
Bhaskar Babu stated that the property was a 99-year leasehold from DSP, which he and his wife had acquired through a power of attorney. Their plan was to build an ashram here under the Paramananda Mission. The primary objective of this ashram was to provide shelter to orphaned children, especially those from the Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste (ST/SC) communities.
He said, “We have about 550 children, of which 85% come from that community.” For this noble cause, he and his wife had also jointly taken a personal loan of ₹27 lakh.

Join on TelegramAllegations of Administrative Conspiracy and Illegal Demolition
According to Bhaskar Ghosh’s allegations, after about one and a half months of smooth construction work, obstacles began to arise from the ruling party. He was offered a proposal to “settle” the matter by meeting an influential state minister, which he outrightly refused.
He has claimed this entire demolition to be an illegal and premeditated conspiracy. His complaint is that he was given no opportunity for a legal battle.
- Delayed Hearing Notice: A letter dated September 12 called him for a hearing on September 15, but he received the letter on October 9, almost a month and a half later.
- Demolition Order: Similarly, a demolition order dated September 16 was handed to him on October 30.
- Demolition After Office Hours: Without giving him any chance to take legal action, the demolition was carried out in the evening after office hours using a bulldozer.
Bhaskar Babu further questions, “Even if the construction was illegal, what fault did the marbles commit?” He reported that marble and granite worth approximately ₹7 lakh kept at the site were also smashed, which included granite brought for his sister’s house.
“Will Not Bow Down, the Fight Will Continue”
Is this incident a stern message for those protesting against the government? In response to this question, Bhaskar Babu believes, “That is what it seems to be.” According to him, the main objective was to cripple him financially and silence his voice of protest.
However, he issued a clear warning, stating, “Bhaskar Ghosh was not born to bow down… to anyone.” He asserted that there is no question of bowing down to cut money or syndicates. In his view, this incident proves that their movement is “sending shivers down the spine of the rulers.” He firmly declared, “The fight is on, and it will continue.”
