SSC’s New Surprise! Now Choose Your Exam Date and Center, Know the Complete Process
SSC Slot Selection: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has introduced a very important and convenient new system for government job aspirants. To enhance the candidate experience, SSC has announced a ‘Self-Slot Selection’ facility, giving candidates more control over their examination schedule. This new system will allow candidates to choose their preferred examination date and center (city) themselves.
In a notification, the commission stated that this facility will initially be available for two major examinations: the Junior Engineer (JE) Examination 2025 and the Sub-Inspector (SI) in Delhi Police & Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) Examination 2025. This is a groundbreaking move that will benefit lakhs of applicants by allowing them to book slots according to their convenience.
Important Dates and Deadlines
The commission has set separate timeframes for slot booking for both examinations to ensure a smooth process. Candidates must complete the selection within the specified deadlines.

Participating in this new ‘Self-Slot Selection’ process is straightforward. Candidates need to follow the steps mentioned below:
- Step 1: First, candidates must visit the official website of the Staff Selection Commission at ssc.gov.in.
- Step 2: On the homepage, log in using your registration number and password.
- Step 3: After successfully logging in, you will find a specific link for ‘Self-Slot Selection’ on your dashboard. Click on that link.
- Step 4: Upon clicking the link, a list of available examination centers (cities) and the dates available at those centers will be displayed on the screen.
- Step 5: From the available options, select your preferred exam center and date and finalize your choice.
Key Points to Remember
The commission has clearly stated that for candidates who fail to book their slot within the given timeframe, the system will automatically allocate (auto-allocate) an examination center and date. Therefore, all candidates are strongly advised to complete this process within the stipulated time. Another crucial point is that once a slot is selected and finalized, it cannot be changed under any circumstances. Candidates are urged to make their selection carefully.
