For the Rabi season of 2025-26, SBI General Insurance has been appointed as the insurance partner. This initiative aims to provide financial protection to farmers in case of crop loss due to natural calamities or other unforeseen reasons. Crops Covered Under Insurance

Several major crops have been brought under the insurance coverage for this Rabi season. Farmers can apply for insurance for the following crops:

  • Potato
  • Boro Paddy
  • Wheat, Mustard, Gram, Khesari, and Lentil (Masur)
  • Rabi Maize and Summer Maize
  • Moong, Sesame (Til), Groundnut, and Sugarcane

Step-by-Step Form Filling Process

It is crucial to fill out the Bangla Shasya Bima application form accurately. Here is the step-by-step procedure:

1. Farmer’s Personal Details

At the beginning of the form, write the farmer’s name clearly (in Bengali or English). Then, enter the name of the father, mother, husband, or guardian in the adjacent box. Correctly fill in the farmer’s age, gender, caste (SC/ST/OBC/General), and mobile number. Please note that providing the Voter Card Number and Aadhaar Card Number is mandatory.

2. Address and ID Details

  • Address: Accurately write the name of the farmer’s village (Mouza), Gram Panchayat, Block, and District.
  • KCC (Kisan Credit Card): Tick ‘Yes’ if you have a KCC, otherwise tick ‘No’.
  • Krishak Bandhu ID: This is mandatory. If you do not know your ID, visit the official ‘Krishak Bandhu’ website, click on the ‘Registered Farmer Information’ option, search using your Voter Card number to find the ID, and write it on the form.

3. Land and Crop Details

Special care must be taken while entering land details:

  • Write the name of the crop for which insurance is being sought.
  • Mention the Block, Gram Panchayat, and Mouza where the land is located.
  • Enter the land’s Khatian and Dag numbers.
  • The area proposed for insurance must be written in ‘Acres’ (e.g., for 10 decimals/satak, write 0.10 acres).
  • Specify whether the land is owned, sharecropped, or rented, and enter the sowing date (tentative or actual).

4. Bank Account Details

It is advisable to provide details of a bank account that is linked with your Aadhaar. Accurately write the Bank Name, Branch Name, Account Number, and IFSC Code as per your passbook.

Required Documents

Self-attested photocopies of the following documents must be submitted along with the application form:

  1. Voter Card.
  2. Aadhaar Card.
  3. First page of the Bank Passbook.
  4. Land Khatian or recent Porcha (Land Record of 2023-24).

Submission Rules

After filling out the form completely, read the declaration at the end and ensure both the witness and the farmer sign it. Then, submit it to the designated official. Please remember, this form cannot be submitted online; it is an entirely offline process.

While submitting the form, ensure the ‘Receipt’ section at the bottom is filled out. The officials will tear this portion, stamp it, and return it to you. Keep this receipt safe for future reference.
