Taruner Swapna Scheme: Tab Money of 10000 Rupees to be Released on January! Big Announcement for Class 11 Students by State

Taruner Swapna Scheme: The School Education Department of the West Bengal Government has brought delightful news for Class 11 students studying in government and government-sponsored schools across the state. Ending a long wait, the final date for releasing the grant of ₹10,000 for purchasing tablets or smartphones under the ‘Taruner Swapna Scheme’ has finally been announced. Bikash Bhavan has issued a detailed notification regarding when the students of the 2025-26 academic session will receive this grant in their bank accounts.

When Will the Tab Money be Received? Final Date Announced

According to a recent notification signed by the Commissioner of School Education (Memo No: 1840-Sc/Apt, Date: 29/12/2025), the process of transferring money to students’ accounts will commence on January 8, 2026. Approximately 6 lakh students across the state will benefit from this scheme. Students of Class 11 in government schools, government-aided schools, and madrasahs are covered under this grant. As per the department’s directive, the money will be directly transferred from the treasury to the beneficiaries’ accounts on that specific day.

Why the Delay in Disbursement? Strict Security Measures

Usually, this money is disbursed before the Durga Puja or in September, but this time students had to wait until January. The primary reason for this is to prevent the fraud and irregularities witnessed last year. Serious allegations of money being diverted to other accounts or accounts being hacked surfaced previously. To prevent such issues, the School Education Department has taken very cautious steps this year:

  • NPCI Verification: School heads collected students’ bank account details and completed a strict verification process through NPCI.
  • Self-Declaration: This year, students had to upload their documents via a link, and a ‘Self-Declaration’ was taken from them. Headmasters uploaded the data to the portal only after verifying it.
  • Correction of Mismatches: Sources from the Education Department revealed that there were mismatches in names between Aadhar cards and bank accounts for many students. Instructions were given to correct these errors, which was a time-consuming process.

Special Instructions for School Heads

Schools have been informed through the District Inspectors of Schools (DI) to finalize the list of beneficiaries on the ‘Banglar Shiksha Portal’. Schools have been instructed to quickly prepare bills and submit them to the iFMS portal so that the money is deposited into the students’ accounts smoothly on January 8 without any technical glitches.

However, a section of teacher organizations blames government lethargy for this delay. According to Swapan Mandal, General Secretary of the Bangiya Shikshak O Shiksha Karmi Samiti, the necessary verification work should have been completed much earlier. Nevertheless, the administration claims that this extra time was taken in the interest of foolproof security rather than rushing, ensuring that only genuine beneficiaries receive the money.

Now it is just a matter of time; smiles are set to return to the faces of lakhs of students in the state on January 8.
