Big News For WB Govt Employees! Grand Assembly At Shahid Minar On January 27, Warning Of Nabanna March

WB Govt Employees: Important news has emerged for West Bengal state government employees. The Sangrami Joutha Mancha (Joint Forum for Struggle) is set to intensify its agitation demanding pending Dearness Allowance (DA) and the implementation of a new Pay Commission. Bhaskar Ghosh, the convenor of the organization, recently delivered a crucial message outlining the strict stance against the state government and the roadmap for future protests. The long-standing grievances of government employees and pensioners are now taking the shape of a larger movement.

Current Status of Pending DA and Pay Commission

Currently, the amount of pending Dearness Allowance for state government employees is massive. According to Bhaskar Ghosh, approximately 40% DA is pending for permanent employees and pensioners. With time, this burden of arrears is increasing further.

On the other hand, the Central Government has already indicated the formation of the 8th Pay Commission, and the Assam Government has also announced its 7th Pay Commission. The silence of the West Bengal government, in contrast to the steps taken by the neighboring state and the Centre, has fueled anger among the employees. In this situation, the Sangrami Joutha Mancha has sought the direct intervention of the Honorable Governor to pressure the state government. They have written to the Governor requesting him to take initiative regarding the announcement of a new Pay Commission in the state.

Sequential Program of Agitation and Timeline

To break the state government’s silence and fulfill their demands, the organization has planned a step-by-step movement. A massive assembly has been called in the heart of Kolkata on January 27, 2026.

The main programs of the agitation are highlighted in the table below:

Program NameTime/DateLocation/Details
Block & District DeputationOngoing ProcessSubmission of deputations at every Block, Sub-division, and District level.
Grand Assembly (Mahasamabesh)January 27, 2026 (12 PM)Shahid Minar Grounds, Kolkata.
Nabanna Abhijan (March to Secretariat)1st or 2nd Week of FebruarySit-in demonstration in front of Nabanna if demands are not met.

Three Key Demands to the Government

The Sangrami Joutha Mancha has set a deadline for the government to clear all dues and demands before the upcoming Assembly Elections. Their three main demands are:

  1. Payment of Arrears: All pending Dearness Allowance must be cleared immediately.
  2. Filling Vacancies: Arrangements must be made to recruit for the huge number of vacant posts in government departments.
  3. Recruitment of Job Seekers: The recruitment process for eligible job seekers who have been protesting for a long time must be completed through discussion.

Warning of Indefinite Strike

Bhaskar Ghosh has clearly stated that the organization wants to solve the problem through discussion. However, if the government does not take any positive steps even after the assembly on January 27, a call for ‘Nabanna Abhijan’ will be given in February. He warned that the state government would be solely responsible for any untoward incidents during this program.

If the government still does not wake up, an Indefinite Strike will be called across all government sectors in the state. The Sangrami Joutha Mancha stated that if the government forces them, they will not hesitate to choose the toughest path.
