WBCHSE HS Exam 2026 Teacher On Duty Rules And Leave List Published
HS Exam 2026: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has taken significant steps to streamline the administrative and evaluation process for the Higher Secondary Examination 2026. Maintaining the tradition of preparing well in advance, the Council issued a special notification on January 13, detailing the ‘On Duty’ leave schedule for all teachers and staff associated with the HS Exam 2026.
This directive is crucial for the heads of all Higher Secondary schools and appointed examiners across the state, allowing them to plan their annual academic calendar effectively.
Breakdown of Duties and Leave for Head Examiners
The role of Head Examiners is pivotal in the evaluation of answer scripts. According to the Council’s notification, a Head Examiner is entitled to a maximum of 21 days of On Duty leave. To ensure transparency and clarity, the breakdown of these days is provided below:
| Nature of Duty | Maximum Days |
|---|---|
| Council Meeting | 1 Day |
| Collection of Answer Scripts (Lifting) | 1 Day |
| Distribution to Examiners | 1 Day |
| Submission of Scripts | 2 Days |
| Scrutiny Work | 5 Days |
| Online Marks Uploading | 5 Days |
| Submission to Council (Lifting) | 1 Day |
| PPR/PPS (Including Tatkal) | 5 Days |
Time Allocation for Examiners and Scrutineers
The rules are specific not just for Head Examiners but also for Theory Paper Examiners. They are allotted a total of 3 days On Duty for the evaluation process—one day for collecting scripts and two days for submission.
On the other hand, Scrutineers have a higher workload and are entitled to a maximum of 10 days On Duty. This includes up to 4 days for scrutiny of answer scripts, and 3 days each for marks uploading (if assigned) and PPR/PPS duty. However, the notification strictly advises that On Duty leave for general scrutiny should not exceed 5 days.
Leaves for Teachers in Administrative Roles
Teacher Members and Council Nominees play an essential role in managing examination centers.
- Teacher Members: They are entitled to 16 days in total, covering 12 exam days, 2 days for Council meetings, and 2 days for meetings with the District Administration.
- Council Nominees: They will receive a maximum of 13 days On Duty, which includes 12 exam days and 1 day for the Center Committee meeting.
Special Rules and Authority Guidelines
The notification clarifies protocols regarding holidays and authorization powers:
- Duty on Holidays: If any assigned duty falls on a Sunday, National Holiday, or State Holiday, the staff member is eligible for ‘Special Leave’ in lieu of that day.
- Authorizing Authority: The Head Examiner is authorized to grant On Duty leave to Examiners and Scrutineers. Conversely, the On Duty leave for Head Examiners will be sanctioned by the Deputy Secretary or Assistant Secretary.
- Discretionary Power: Head Examiners have the discretion to call relevant teachers for work on alternate dates if necessary for operational requirements or board classes, and grant On Duty leave accordingly.
This comprehensive guideline is expected to bring more discipline and clarity to the HS Exam 2026 process.
