Yubasathi Scheme Rs 1500 Credited Before April 1 West Bengal CM Announces Early Rollout
Yubasathi Scheme: Massive relief has arrived for the unemployed youth of West Bengal. On the eve of International Women’s Day, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced a special gift for the state’s job seekers. Originally, the financial assistance under the ‘Yubasathi’ scheme was scheduled to be disbursed from April 1. However, the timeline has been preponed. Speaking from a stage in Dharamtala, the Chief Minister confirmed that the scheme’s funds will start getting credited directly into the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries from Saturday itself.
Background and Timeline of the Scheme
The Yubasathi scheme was first introduced earlier this year during the interim state budget by Minister of State for Finance, Chandrima Bhattacharya. Initially, the administration planned to launch the scheme on August 15. Later, during a press conference at Nabanna, the Chief Minister directed the rollout to be advanced to April 1. To meet this target, aggressive block-level camps and an online portal were launched on February 15, coinciding with Shivaratri, to facilitate the quick submission of application forms.
Who is Eligible for this Financial Aid?
The primary goal of this initiative is to provide financial stability to the younger generation. Under this scheme, unemployed youth between the ages of 21 and 40 years will receive a monthly government grant of Rs 1,500 for five consecutive years.
However, there is a key condition: applicants must not be receiving any other government financial assistance or allowance. The Chief Minister made a significant exception for students. She clarified that those receiving scholarships or educational stipends will not be excluded from this scheme, as scholarship funds are rightfully theirs for educational purposes.
Massive Public Response and District-Wise Data
This unique government initiative has generated immense enthusiasm among the public. According to the statistics shared by the Chief Minister, approximately 90 lakh to 1 crore unemployed youth from across the state have already applied for this monthly assistance.
South 24 Parganas leads the chart with the highest number of applications, recording a staggering 9,34,285 submissions. This is closely followed by Murshidabad and North 24 Parganas, which have submitted 7,14,133 and 7,20,070 applications, respectively. The state government has already initiated the fast-track process to deliver this financial support to the massive pool of applicants.
