Recently, the State Finance Department issued a strict directive regarding the digitization of employee service records, commonly known as the e-Service Book. Officials and staff have been instructed to complete this mandatory task within a specific timeframe.
What Does the New Notification State?
According to the newly published order from the Finance Department (Order Number: 835-F(eGov), dated: 28/02/2026), the process of creating e-Service Books for all government employees must be finalized by March 20. This specific process involves two main steps:
- Role of Officials: Initially, the officers in charge or the custodians of the service books will scan the original document pages and safely upload them online.
- Role of Employees: Subsequently, the employees themselves must take charge. They need to carefully review the scanned documents and enter all their respective data accurately into the online portal.
Is There Any Connection with Pending DA Payments?
There is widespread speculation among government circles linking this sudden directive to the ongoing 25% Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears case currently being heard in the Supreme Court. Many believe that the government is hurriedly collecting salary details and other crucial employee information to calculate and release pending dues.
However, analyzing past administrative records reveals that there is no direct legal or causal relationship between this notification and the pending DA arrear payments.
