Cancelled or Safe? First Supplementary Voter List Releasing on Monday, Know How to Check

Supplementary Voter List: The prolonged uncertainty surrounding the voter ID cards of millions of citizens in the state is finally coming to a partial end. The Election Commission is set to release a highly crucial supplementary voter list on the upcoming Monday at 4 PM. This particular rollout is aimed primarily at citizens whose electoral status was put on hold for further verification.

Current Status and Critical Statistics

During the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process for the 2026 electoral roll, authorities flagged numerous names under an ‘Under Adjudication’ status. This meant that the details of these individuals required a thorough re-verification. A massive total of 60 lakh names fell under this specific category. However, Monday’s list will not cover everyone. The authorities have successfully resolved the verification process for 27 lakh 23 thousand citizens so far, and only these updated names will be part of the upcoming supplementary list. Meanwhile, based on recent statements from the Chief Minister, approximately 10 lakh names face the severe risk of being deleted. Individuals with flawless documents will be safely marked as ‘Fresh’ voters, whereas those removed will be categorised as ‘Deleted’.

Methods to Verify Your Details Online

Citizens will have two distinct ways to check the current status of their voter ID cards. Starting Monday afternoon, individuals can directly visit the official portal at voters.gov.in to check their status.
Firstly, users can navigate to the ‘SIR Supplementary Roll 2026’ option by selecting West Bengal as the state and the year 2026. By downloading the specific PDF for their district and assembly constituency, they can easily check if the adjudication tag has been removed from their names.
Secondly, citizens can use their voter ID number (EPIC number) to search directly on the portal. If the search results display the complete details of the voter, it indicates that the name is completely secure. Conversely, if the system shows ‘No Result Found’, it is highly likely that the name has been removed from the electoral roll. If the status still shows ‘Under Adjudication’, the voter will need to wait for the next list.

What to Do if Your Name is Missing

There is absolutely no need to panic if your name does not appear in this first supplementary list. It is very important to remember that over 30 lakh names are still awaiting resolution. The election commission is expected to release more supplementary lists in the near future. In the unfortunate event that a citizen confirms their name has been permanently deleted, they will have to immediately initiate a completely fresh application for a new voter ID card.
