WBCHSE Class 11: WBCHSE Takes Strict Action Against Negligence in Class 11 Education

WBCHSE Class 11: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) is no longer going to tolerate any negligence regarding Class 11 academics and examinations. To curb the growing tendency among a section of students and school authorities to neglect this crucial academic year, the council is stepping directly into action. To maintain the quality of education and ensure that guidelines are properly followed, plans are being made to conduct surprise inspections in schools across the state.

Why is the Education Council Getting Strict?

Over recent times, a growing disinterest towards Class 11 has been observed among students. Since the marks obtained in this class are not added to the final Class 12 results, many tend to overlook its importance. However, according to the council, the Class 11 syllabus is absolutely essential for clearing various all-India entrance exams. The newly revised syllabus is structured in such a way that if the foundation in Class 11 is not strong, students will face significant problems in the future. Therefore, the board wants to manage Class 11 with the same importance as Class 12.

What Are the Allegations Against the Schools?

A section of teachers themselves have complained that the syllabus is not being completed on time in many schools. Exams are being conducted haphazardly based only on the limited portions taught. The most shocking allegation is that some schools are buying question papers from external agencies, and in some cases, instead of printed papers, questions are being written directly on the blackboard. Additionally, there are massive question marks regarding the attendance rate of students in classes.

Strict Surveillance: What Steps Will the Council Take?

To overcome this dismal situation, the council is considering several stringent measures.

  • Surprise Visits: Sudden inspections will be conducted in schools to assess the real situation.
  • Routine and Calendar Checks: The council will verify whether daily class routines and academic calendars are being properly followed.
  • Attendance Tracking: The council will demand weekly attendance reports of the students.
  • Question Paper Uploading: After the exams, every school will mandatorily have to upload their respective question papers on the council’s designated portal.

Opinions of Teachers’ Organizations and Authorities

The West Bengal Trinamool Secondary Teachers’ Association has welcomed this initiative. On the other hand, the All Post-Graduate Teachers Welfare Association suggested that adding Class 11 marks to the Higher Secondary marksheet would make students take it more seriously. However, no changes to the examination system or marksheet rules are being introduced at the moment. WBCHSE President Partha Karmakar stated that the primary goal of the inspections is not to punish anyone, but to correct the shortcomings and secure the future of the students.
