A Glimmer of Hope for 2016 SSC Job Losers: New Case in Supreme Court, Demand for OMR Publication

Kolkata: A new ray of hope has emerged for eligible candidates who lost their jobs in the 2016 School Service Commission (SSC) corruption case. Suman Biswas and other job aspirants have filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court of India, the country’s highest court, aiming to reclaim their employment. The primary objective of this legal battle is to secure the publication of the mirror images of the OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheets, which is believed to be instrumental in reinstating the jobs of deserving candidates.
The petitioners have stated that they have discussed and consulted with prominent lawyer Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya and former Justice and current Member of Parliament Abhijit Gangopadhyay on this matter. They believe that publishing the mirror images of the OMR sheets is the only way to achieve a permanent solution to this issue and enable eligible candidates to get their lost jobs back.
According to the petitioners, these mirror copies of the OMR sheets are in the possession of the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC), and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has also acknowledged these copies as genuine. Surprisingly, no lawyer had previously appealed to the CBI in this case to produce the OMR mirror images. Therefore, the CBI has been included as a party in this new petition to facilitate the presentation of these crucial documents before the court.
The main petitioner in this case is Suman Biswas, and the case has been filed under the name “Suman Biswas & Others.” The diary number for this case in the Supreme Court is 30303/2025.
The petitioners have urged all genuinely eligible candidates from the 2016 panel to join and support their initiative. They are confident that truth will prevail and deserving candidates will reclaim their rights. It was also mentioned that details on how other job aspirants can become a party to this case will be provided in a future update. This legal step has instilled fresh hope in the minds of many job losers across the state.
