AI Road Repair: Now, state roads will be repaired with the help of Artificial Intelligence, monitored directly from Nabanna

AI Road Repair: The dilapidated roads of the state during the monsoon season are a major problem. However, the West Bengal government is now set to take a groundbreaking step to solve this issue. Using Artificial Intelligence (AI), all potholes on the state’s roads will now be filled, and the entire process will be directly monitored from Nabanna.

This new technology will not only improve the road repair process but also ensure transparency and quality of work.

Why was this new method necessary?

Until now, road repair work was done using conventional methods. This often raised questions about the quality of the work. There were also complaints of incomplete work or the use of substandard materials due to a lack of adequate supervision. As a result, despite government expenditure, public suffering did not decrease. To find a permanent solution to all these problems, the state’s Public Works Department has now decided to use this modern technology.

How will this AI technology work?

In this new system, road videos will be analyzed using artificial intelligence technology.

  • Pothole Detection: The AI technology will analyze video footage to identify large and dangerous potholes in red and less deep ones in green.
  • Accurate Measurement: Precise measurement data for each pothole will be collected, which will help in planning the work and determining the budget.
  • Data Upload to ‘Samiksha’ Portal: All this information will be uploaded to the ‘Road Condition Monitoring System’ module of the Public Works Department’s ‘Samiksha’ portal.
  • Direct Monitoring from Nabanna: Based on the data uploaded to this portal, it will be possible to directly monitor the progress and quality of the road repair work from Nabanna.

Verification of Work Quality

The quality of the work will be verified using AI technology not only before the repair but also after its completion. Video analysis will ensure that the repair is correct and durable. This will increase the accountability of contractors and improve the quality of road repair work.

Benefits for the Public

This new technology will make the roads safer and smoother. There is a plan to repair about 20,000 kilometers of roads in the state using this new technology before Durga Puja. This will make travel smoother for the public during the festive season. This initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to infrastructure development.
