Aikyashree Scholarship: Get Up To 30000 Rupees Yearly Financial Aid Under Aikyashree Scheme For WB Students

Aikyashree Scholarship: A landmark initiative by the West Bengal government is the provision of special scholarships for meritorious students belonging to minority communities. The Aikyashree scheme was launched to ensure that financial constraints never stand in the way of the younger generation’s education. For the 2026 academic year, students who wish to apply freshly for this financial aid or renew their old applications must understand the complete guidelines and intricate details.

Who is Eligible for this Financial Support?

The benefits of this scheme are primarily aimed at students who are permanent residents of West Bengal and belong to specific minority communities (such as Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Sikh, Parsi, or Jain). However, the state government has also set a merit benchmark for this. The applicant must have scored at least 50 percent marks in their last passed examination. Additionally, family income must be taken into account. For school-level students, the annual family income must be below 2 lakh rupees, and for professional courses, it must strictly be under 2.5 lakh rupees.

Grant Amount and Tier Classification

Based on different levels of education, this financial assistance has been divided into three main categories.

  • Pre-Matric Level: For students from Class 1 to Class 10. Here, an annual grant ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 rupees is provided.
  • Post-Matric Level: Students from Class 11 up to the PhD level fall under this category. An amount of 5,000 to 10,000 rupees is allocated annually for them.
  • Merit-Cum-Means: This is applicable to students pursuing professional courses like engineering, medical, or management. Students at this level can receive a maximum of 25,000 to 30,000 rupees per year.

How to Apply and Required Documents?

The entire process is conducted completely online. Students must visit the dedicated scholarship portal of WBMDFC and complete the ‘Student Registration’. After providing the district, name of the educational institution, and other personal details, an application ID will be generated. Using that ID, one must log in and accurately fill out the application form.

Crucial Documents:
During the application, it is essential to scan and upload the marksheet of the last examination, a personal bank account passbook, Aadhaar card, income certificate, proof of admission to the current course, and a bonafide certificate issued by the institution. After the final submission, a printout of the form must be submitted to the student’s respective educational institution.

Important Rules and Helpline Details

Many students wonder whether they can receive the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship (SVMCM) alongside Aikyashree. According to government regulations, a student can only avail of the benefits of one scholarship. However, if a student has scored more than 60 percent marks, they can apply for the specific Swami Vivekananda Scholarship category through the Aikyashree portal itself.

If candidates require any assistance during the application process, they can contact the toll-free number 1800-120-2130 or the WhatsApp number 8017076011. Since the portal remains open for a limited period, interested students are advised to regularly follow the official government website.
