Big Change in BLO App! New ‘Sent Back by AERO/ERO’ Option for Error Correction, Know Detailed Process
BLO App Update: Booth Level Officers (BLOs) carry out the crucial task of door-to-door voter list verification following the guidelines of the Election Commission. Using the ‘BLO App’ on smartphones is mandatory for this purpose. However, due to work pressure, unintentional errors often occur while entering data into the app. Until recently, the scope for correcting such errors was extremely limited, causing significant anxiety among the staff. To address this issue, a very important update has been introduced in the app.
New Option: Sent Back by AERO/ERO
In the latest update of the BLO App, a new feature has been added within the ‘Special Intensive Revision’ section. Among the total 6 options available, this new feature appears as the second-to-last option. It is named “Sent Back by AERO/ERO”. Essentially, this option has been introduced to correct forms rejected or sent back from the AERO or ERO level. This allows for the rectification of major errors that were previously irreversible.
Functionality of the New Feature
Upon entering this main option, BLOs will find two sub-categories. For ease of understanding, the details are discussed below:
1. Sent Back by AERO/ERO (Mark as Uncollectible):
Often, a BLO might submit data marking a voter as ‘Alive’ after a house visit. However, it might later be discovered that the voter has passed away after the form submission. Previously, changing this was complex. Now, if the AERO or ERO office sends back that specific form, the BLO can use this option to re-mark the entry as ‘Dead’ or ‘Uncollectible’.

Join on Telegram2. Sent Back by AERO/ERO (Already Filled Form):
This is the most relieving update. Previously, if a living voter was accidentally marked as ‘Dead’ or ‘Shifted’ (Uncollectible) in the BLO App, it could not be undone. This meant the system would start the process of deleting that voter from the list. With the new update, if the AERO or ERO sends back that incorrect entry, the BLO can revisit the voter’s house, scan the form again, and enter the correct details marking them as ‘Alive’.
Why is this Update Crucial?
For BLO App users, this update is somewhat of a game-changer because:
- Opportunity for Correction: Previously, once submitted in ‘Mark as Uncollectible’ or ‘Fill Form’ mode, the data would get locked. Now, a mechanism has been created to unlock it through higher officials (AERO/ERO).
- Data Accuracy: This will ensure greater accuracy in the voter list work and reduce the risk of valid voters being accidentally deleted.
What Should BLOs Do?
When you click on this option in your app, it might initially show ‘No Data Found’. There is no need to worry. This option will only function when there is an error in a form you submitted, and you have informed your AERO or ERO to ‘Send Back’ the form to your ID. The form will only become visible in this folder and available for editing once the office sends it back.
