BLO App Update: Big Relief for Voters! Major Change in BLO App Before Hearing, Know Details
BLO App Update: A highly significant update has emerged amidst the ongoing voter list revision and verification process in West Bengal. Since the publication of the draft voter list on December 16, the SIR (Summary Intensive Revision) or voter data verification work has been going on in full swing across the state. Just before the hearings are scheduled to begin, a major technical change has been introduced in the ‘BLO App’, bringing relief to both general voters and Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
According to sources from the Election Commission, this step has been taken to eliminate confusion regarding voter data and reduce unnecessary harassment. It is expected that the addition of this new feature to the app will make the verification process more transparent and faster.
New Feature in BLO App: ‘Re-verify Logical Discrepancy’
The new option added to the BLO App is named ‘Re-verify Logical Discrepancy’. Its main objective is to maintain consistency between the data of the 2002 voter list and the current information. The key features are discussed below:
- Correction of Spelling and Names: In many cases, it is observed that there are slight differences in the spelling of the voter’s name, middle name, or last name compared to the 2002 list. Previously, this involved a complex process. But now, BLOs themselves can correct these minor errors through the app.
- Undertaking: After making the corrections, BLOs have to submit an undertaking within the app. With the introduction of this system, voters with minor spelling errors in their names might not need to appear physically for the hearing. This will undoubtedly save the time and effort of the common people.
- Document Upload: There are many voters whose names are ‘Unmapped’ or not linked. In such cases, if any hard copy or proof of connection with the 2002 data is found, BLOs can directly upload that proof document to the app.
Hearing Dates and Statement from BLO Union
Software update work is still in progress to ensure the entire process is completed without any technical glitches. According to commission sources, the hearing phase for the voter list in the state is likely to begin from December 26 or 27. Notices are already being sent to voters regularly.

Join on TelegramSwapan Mandal, General Secretary of the Board Employees and BLO Aikyamancha, has shed detailed light on this matter. He stated that previously the app only had the ‘Logical Discrepancy’ option, which has now been upgraded to ‘Re-verify’ mode. He further informed that the names of about 30 lakh people in the state do not match the 2002 data. Solving the problem by mentioning the reason for linking or mapping this huge amount of data and uploading proofs will now be much easier.
