- If More Than Two Passengers: If more than two passengers are added to a single PNR, even if all of them are senior citizens, the ticket will be converted to the General Quota. In that case, the special benefits of the Senior Citizen Quota will not be available.
- One Senior Citizen and Another Passenger: If a senior citizen passenger and another younger passenger (who is not a senior citizen) book a ticket on the same PNR, the ticket will also be moved to the General Quota. Unlike the Divyangjan quota, there is no provision for an escort here.
- Lower Berth Benefit: Keeping the comfort of senior citizens in mind, the railway authorities try to provide them with lower berths. Booking tickets in this quota significantly increases the chances of getting a lower berth.
How to Book Tickets?
The process of booking tickets in the Senior Citizen Quota through the IRCTC website or app is very simple.
- First, log in to the IRCTC website and enter your journey details (source, destination, date).
- Then, in the quota selection area, choose the “Lower Berth/Sr. Citizen” option instead of “General”.
