CM Mamata Banerjee’s New Recruitment Plan, Teachers Remain Frustrated

WBSSC: Qualified candidates who recently lost their jobs in the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment scam have expressed their disappointment and frustration following Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s press conference. While the Chief Minister has assured them of a new recruitment notification and continued legal support, the anxieties of the jobless teachers remain unaddressed.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that, in compliance with the Supreme Court’s order, a new recruitment notification will be published by May 31st. She further stated that the state government will vigorously pursue a review petition in court and advised the affected teachers to consider applying for the new recruitment process while continuing their legal battle.
However, this announcement has failed to reassure the qualified candidates who lost their jobs. They argue that they are being penalized for institutional corruption in which they had no part. Their hope was to be reinstated based on OMR sheets, which could differentiate transparently between tainted and non-tainted candidates, without needing to reappear for exams. Many are concerned about the exam, having spent the last 7-8 years in secure jobs and now facing renewed uncertainty. They also expressed doubts about their ability to compete successfully with new candidates who might be better prepared for competitive exams.
The teachers who lost their jobs reported being under severe mental and emotional distress. They are prepared to continue their legal fight but see no guarantee of getting their jobs back. According to them, this situation is pushing them towards extreme despair. In these circumstances, the affected qualified candidates are closely watching the state government’s next steps and the progression of the legal proceedings.
