DA Case Update: When Is the Final Verdict on the DA Case? What Happened to the 25 Percent Arrears?

DA Case Update: Here is a crucial update for state government employees regarding the Dearness Allowance (DA) case. After a long wait, the final hearing of the case in the Supreme Court has concluded, and the verdict is now awaited. Let’s delve into the details of this case.
Current Status of the Case
The final hearing of the DA case has been completed in the bench of Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra at the Supreme Court. After the hearing, the case status is listed as “Heard and Reserved.” This means there will be no further hearings in this case, and the court is now preparing to announce the judgment.
When Can the Verdict Be Expected?
Although the final hearing is over, it will take some more time to get the verdict. The main reason for this is that the court has given both parties time to submit their final written arguments.
- State Government’s Deadline: The state government has been given until September 22, 2025, to submit its final written statement.
- Employees’ Deadline: After the state government’s submission, the government employees’ side has been given an additional week to submit their reply, i.e., until September 29, 2025.
After all these procedures are completed, there is almost no possibility of the verdict being announced in October due to the Durga Puja and Diwali holidays. Therefore, it is expected that the final verdict of the DA case might be announced within the first week of November 2025.
Amount of Arrear DA
It is noteworthy that earlier, on May 16, 2025, the Supreme Court had issued an interim order directing the state government to pay 25 percent of the DA arrears. However, the state government did not implement that order and instead filed an application seeking its modification.
However, the case is no longer at the stage of that interim order; the apex court is now moving towards a final settlement. In this situation, the government employees are very optimistic. They believe that the final judgment will be in their favor and they will be able to recover not just a partial amount, but the full 100 percent of their pending DA.
Now, everything depends on the Supreme Court’s verdict. The state government employees are eagerly waiting for that final judgment.
