DA Hike News: Good News for Central Government Employees! 3% DA Increase Coming, Know When it will be Announced

DA Hike News: A big piece of good news awaits Central Government employees and pensioners. Before the festive season, the government may announce a 3% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR). This decision will be financially beneficial for more than 1.2 crore central employees and pensioners across the country.
When will it be announced?
According to sources, the formal announcement could be made in the first week of October. Although this hike will be effective from July 1, 2025, employees will receive three months of arrears, from July to September, along with their October salary. This announcement is set to bring a wave of joy to employees’ families during the festive season.
How much will the DA increase?
Currently, central government employees receive DA at a rate of 55%. After the new 3% increase, this rate will rise to 58%. Under the 7th Pay Commission, the DA is calculated based on the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW). This particular hike is based on the average CPI-IW data from July 2024 to June 2025.
A Festive Gift
Typically, the government revises the DA twice a year, before Holi and Diwali. This year’s announcement is being seen as a major gift before Diwali, which will be celebrated on October 20-21, 2025. This additional money will help employees with their festive shopping and other expenses.
