Reliance on landmarks frequently leads to issues in postal and parcel delivery, delays in emergency services (like ambulances or fire brigades), and inefficiencies in the provision of other government services. These inefficiencies are estimated to cost the national economy billions of rupees annually. DigiPin aims to play a crucial role in resolving these challenges.

How Will the System Work?

A DigiPin will be created for each property based on its GPS coordinates. This information will be stored in a central data system, which, similar to Aadhaar, will help verify the authenticity of the address. This project is expected to be spearheaded by the Department of Posts, with coordination from the Prime Minister’s Office.
