Election Commission to Release Final Voter List on February 14 Check Name Inclusion Rules

Final Voter List: The Election Commission has nearly concluded the process of revising and finalizing the voter list, with the final publication scheduled for February 14, 2026. This announcement has generated significant interest regarding whose names will appear in the final roll and who might face exclusion. Based on the guidelines related to SIR (Summary Revision) and hearings, a clear picture has emerged regarding the inclusion and rejection criteria.

Inclusion Criteria: Who is Safe?

The status of a citizen’s name in the voter list primarily depends on two scenarios. Firstly, individuals whose names appeared in the draft voter list released in December and who did not receive any hearing notice at their residence can rest easy. Their names will be automatically included in the final voter list. However, citizens are advised to check the ‘Logical Discrepancy’ or ‘Unmapped Voter’ lists displayed at local Panchayat or BDO offices. If one’s name is not on those exclusion lists, their inclusion in the final roll is guaranteed.

Secondly, for those who received a notice and attended the hearing, inclusion depends entirely on the documents presented. The Election Commission had released a list of 13 acceptable documents (including the Madhyamik Admit Card) for verification. If a citizen presented any valid document from this specific list during the hearing, their name will be retained in the final list.

Risk of Exclusion

The risk of exclusion is high for individuals who attended the hearing but failed to produce documents from the Commission’s prescribed list. The Election Commission has strictly mandated that documents outside the approved list will not be accepted. Consequently, inability to provide the correct proof of eligibility during the hearing may lead to the removal of the name from the final voter list.

Key Deadlines and Updates

The Commission had set strict timelines for this entire verification process:

  • Notice Generation: All hearing notices were generated by January 31, 2026. No new notices will be issued after this date.
  • Notice Delivery: The deadline for delivering generated notices to citizens was 5:00 PM on February 1, 2026.
  • Document Upload: Officials were instructed to upload all documents for completed hearings onto the portal by February 2, 2026.
  • Hearing Window: Hearings must be concluded within 7 days of the notice issuance.

Subject to no further changes, citizens will be able to verify their names in the final voter list on February 14, 2026.
