Good news for residents of West Bengal’s Panchayat areas! Pay Panchayat tax on your mobile

From now on, residents of Panchayat areas in West Bengal can easily pay their property and business taxes online. This process has become extremely simple and convenient through the new online service from the Government of West Bengal’s Panchayat Department. In this blog post, we will discuss step-by-step how you can pay your taxes from home.
How to Get Started?
To pay tax online, you first need to visit the official website of the West Bengal Panchayat Department. You can search for “WB Panchayat” on Google or go directly to the website prd.wb.gov.in. Mobile users can also use this service by downloading the “Banglar Panchayat” app from the Google Play Store.
The Online Payment Process
After visiting the website, go to the “Citizen Corner” section and select the “Pay GP Property Tax” option.
- For First-Time Users: You will need to create an account first. Click the “Sign Up” button and select your mobile number, district, block, and Gram Panchayat. Then, enter your personal details like your first name, last name, and email. An OTP will be sent to your mobile to complete the verification process.
- Searching for Your Property: If you know your assessment number, you can use it to find your property directly. Alternatively, you can search using your linked phone number. If you cannot find your information using these methods, you can search by your name or surname after selecting your district, block, and Gram Panchayat.
- Verifying Details: After the search, your assessment number, address, owner’s name, and father’s name will be displayed, from which you can verify your property. The outstanding tax amount will also be shown next to it.
- Payment Process: Click the “Pay Now” button next to your property. On the next page, detailed information about your property and a breakdown of the taxes (such as arrears and quarterly taxes) will be shown. You can select the tax periods you wish to pay, and the total amount will update automatically.
- Payment Gateway: After selecting the taxes, click the “Pay Now” button again and proceed to the payment gateway. You can pay using a QR code, UPI ID, credit card, or net banking.
- Payment Confirmation: Upon successful payment, a confirmation message will appear, and you can download your payment receipt.
Important Points to Note
If your tax amount does not appear during the search, it is advised to wait a few days, as the data for some Panchayats may still be in the process of being updated online.
This online service is undoubtedly a groundbreaking step that has made the process of paying taxes easier and more transparent for the residents of Panchayat areas.
