Lost Aadhaar Card: How to Retrieve Lost Aadhaar Card Without Registered Mobile Number

Lost Aadhaar Card: In today’s digital age, the Aadhaar card stands as one of the most critical documents for Indian citizens. However, losing this card can create a stressful situation, which becomes even more complicated if there is no mobile number linked to it. Without a registered mobile number, receiving an OTP (One Time Password) is impossible, making the standard online retrieval methods ineffective.

But there is no need to panic. Even without a linked mobile number, you can restore your lost Aadhaar card by following a systematic offline process. Here is how you can reclaim your identity document without hassle.

Visit an Enrollment Center for Biometric Verification

Since the online OTP method is not an option in this scenario, the primary solution is to visit your nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Center. This offline method relies on physical verification. Instead of a mobile OTP, the officials will use biometric verification (fingerprint and iris scan) to authenticate your identity. This step ensures that the request is genuine and prevents identity theft.

Process If You Have the Enrollment ID (EID)

If you have preserved the acknowledgment slip from when you first applied for Aadhaar, the process becomes quite straightforward. You will need to provide the 28-digit Enrollment ID printed on that receipt. Along with this ID, you will be asked to confirm basic details such as your full name and address. Following the biometric check, your request will be processed.

What If You Don’t Have the Enrollment ID?

Many people may not have their old enrollment slips handy. If you find yourself in this situation, there is still nothing to worry about. You can still request a reissue of your Aadhaar card.

  • Visit the Aadhaar center and provide your personal details like name and address verbally or via a form.
  • Undergo the mandatory biometric verification.
  • Once your biometrics match the data in the UIDAI database, your request for a new card will be accepted.

Fees and Delivery

To finalize the reissue process, you are required to pay a nominal fee. Currently, a charge of ₹30 is applicable for this service. Once the verification is complete and the fee is paid, the UIDAI will reprint your Aadhaar card. The new card will be dispatched to your registered address via post and should arrive within a few days. Therefore, losing an Aadhaar card without a linked mobile number is no longer a dead-end; a simple visit to the center can solve the problem.
