Lakshmir Bhandar March 2026 Payment Date And Amount Hike Update
Lakshmir Bhandar Payment: For millions of women across West Bengal, the ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ scheme is not just a government initiative but a significant financial support system for their daily lives. Following the announcement of an increased grant in the 2026-27 financial year budget, there is widespread enthusiasm among women across the state. With the increased disbursement starting from February 2026, speculation is now rife about when the March installment will be credited to bank accounts. Here is everything you need to know about the payment schedule and status check procedures.
Increased Amount and Addition of New Beneficiaries
As per the announcement made by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the interim budget of 2026-27, the monthly allowance for the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme has been hiked. This decision directly benefits women from both General and Reserved categories. The current payment structure is as follows:
- General and OBC Category: Women in this group are now receiving ₹1,500 per month.
- Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST): Women in these categories are receiving ₹1,700 per month.
Beyond the financial hike, the scope of the project has expanded significantly. According to government data, approximately 20.62 lakh new women have been brought under the umbrella of this scheme. Consequently, the total number of beneficiaries in West Bengal currently stands at around 2.42 crore.
Will the March Payment Be Delayed?
Typically, the state government transfers the money directly to the beneficiaries’ accounts via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) within the first week of every month. However, sources suggest that the situation might be slightly different for March. Due to the inclusion of a massive number of new beneficiaries (over 20 lakhs), the administrative process of verifying their documents and data might consume some extra time. As a result of this verification drive, there could be a minor fluctuation in the payment date. However, beneficiaries are advised not to worry as the process is routine.
What to Do If Payment Is Not Received?
If the money does not reach your account by the end of the first week of March, there is no need to panic. Instead, it is advisable to check the current status of your application. You can easily do this from the comfort of your home:
- Online Portal: Visit the West Bengal Government’s Social Security Portal (https://socialsecurity.wb.gov.in) or the official Lakshmir Bhandar website.
- Check Status: Enter your registered mobile number or Aadhaar number to view your application status.
Understanding the Status:
- If the status shows ‘Validation Success’ or ‘Payment Under Process’, rest assured that your money will be credited very soon.
- If it shows any ‘Validation Error’ or discrepancy, you are advised to immediately contact your local BDO office or the nearest ‘Duare Sarkar’ camp for rectification.
Finally, to avoid payment failures due to technical reasons, please ensure that your bank account is linked with your Aadhaar card and that your bank KYC details are up to date.
