Primary TET Scam: Just as the state is in turmoil over the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) corruption, lawyer Firdous Samim, in an interview, has pointed towards an even more alarming future. According to him, the magnitude of corruption in the upcoming Primary Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) results and recruitment process could surpass the widespread irregularities seen in the SSC scam.

Why is There More Concern About Primary Recruitment?

In the interview, lawyer Firdous Samim explicitly warned that, “The corruption in primary recruitment is more terrifying than the SSC’s.” Although the SSC scam has proven serious allegations like OMR manipulation, rank jumping, and appointments from expired panels, Samim’s statement suggests that the web of corruption in primary recruitment is even more deeply entrenched. He believes there is a high risk that both the nature and volume of corruption could exceed that of the SSC, pushing the future of millions of job aspirants into darkness.

Parallels with the SSC Scam

To understand how terrifying the primary recruitment situation could be, one only needs to look at the SSC scam. According to Firdous Samim’s analysis, in the SSC case:

  • The Commission itself has admitted to nearly 6,276 illegal appointments.
  • Despite court orders, there has been a delay in publishing the complete list of “tainted” candidates.
  • The entire process has been complicated by concealing information and a lack of transparency.

The lawyer fears that if the same network and mentality are at play in the primary recruitment, the outcome will be catastrophic.

The Demand for Transparency and Justice

Firdous Samim emphasizes that the greatest need of the hour is transparency. If attempts are made to hide information in the primary recruitment process, just as in the SSC case, the situation could spiral out of control. He asserts that the government must immediately investigate all allegations, publish the lists of the accused, and ensure a transparent recruitment process. Otherwise, the collective anger of the job aspirants could lead to a “people’s explosion,” which would be difficult to manage.
