SIR WB: No Documents Needed for SIR! Big Relief in New Announcement by Election Commission
SIR WB: The office of the Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal, has recently issued an important notice, bringing great relief to the voters of the state. According to this new directive, there is no need to attach any supporting documents while filling up and submitting the Special Intensive Rivision (SIR) form. This announcement has cleared up a lot of confusion and doubt among many people.
Under this new rule, the burden of submitting documents has been reduced for citizens in the voter list revision process, which will make the entire procedure much simpler.
Form Distribution and Submission Schedule
As per the notification, the distribution of the SIR or enumeration form will begin on 4th November 2025. This process will continue for one month, and the last date for form submission is 4th December 2025. All eligible citizens must submit their filled-in forms to the BLO (Booth Level Officer) within this specified period.
Are Any Documents Required with the Form?
Previously, there was a misconception among many that a copy of the page from the 2002 voter list containing the applicant’s name needed to be attached with the SIR form. However, the new notice from the Election Commission has made this matter crystal clear.

Simply filling out the form received from the BLO correctly and submitting it will be sufficient for your name to be considered for inclusion in the Draft Voter List. It is important to remember that this is not the final voter list, but only a draft list.
Importance of the 2002 Voter List
Although the 2002 voter list is not required for submission, it is advisable to keep it handy. This is because:
- Those whose names were on the 2002 voter list will fill out the left-hand side of the enumeration form.
- Those whose names were not on the 2002 list, but a family member like their father, mother, or another relative was, will fill out the right-hand side of the form.
This old list will serve as a crucial reference for filling out the form correctly.
What Happens After the Draft List is Published?
After submitting the form, your name will be included in the draft voter list. If any objection or suspicion arises regarding the information you have provided after this draft list is published, only then will a notice be sent to your address. You will be required to attend a hearing with the necessary documents on the specified date only if you receive a notice. No documents are needed at the time of form submission.

The following dates are crucial for the voter list revision process:
