SSC 2016 Notification: SSC 2016 Big Notification Regarding Return to Old School and Pay Protection

SSC 2016 Notification: A highly significant notification has been issued by the Directorate of School Education (Primary Branch), Government of West Bengal, for SSC 2016 candidates. Published on December 29, 2025, this notification primarily provides guidelines for those teachers who wish to return to their previous workplaces or old schools as per court orders. The notification details crucial aspects regarding job security, pay structure or pay protection, and the extension of joining time at the old schools.

Pay Protection and Service Continuity

The notification assures candidates that those returning to their old workplaces (whether primary or secondary) will retain all their service benefits. Based on the judgment dated April 3rd, the following points have been confirmed:

  • No Break in Service: There will be no ‘Break in Service’ in the process of returning to the old school. The continuity of the service will be strictly maintained.
  • Protection of Pay and Increments: Candidates will continue to receive the increments and salary benefits they have earned in their current jobs even after returning to their old schools. Their pay protection is fully guaranteed.
  • Supernumerary Posts: If there is no vacancy in the old workplace, ‘Supernumerary Posts’ or additional posts will be created if necessary to facilitate their joining.

Supreme Court Directive and Extension of Tenure

In a case related to teacher recruitment, the Hon’ble Supreme Court issued a new order on December 18, 2025, based on an application filed by the Board of Secondary Education. This order has brought about a significant change in the situation:

  • The tenure of the candidates in their current schools, which was previously valid until December 31, 2025, has now been extended up to August 2026.
  • As a result, candidates now have the opportunity to continue working in their current posts for several more months if they wish.

Extension of Joining Time at Old Schools

Due to the Supreme Court’s order extending the tenure, many candidates may not wish to return to their old schools immediately. Considering this situation, the Directorate has issued clear instructions:

  • Since the job tenure has been extended to August 2026, candidates can choose not to join their old schools immediately and can apply for an extension of the time limit.
  • If any candidate personally applies to the relevant authority to extend the joining period at the old school, the authorities have been advised to grant such applications.

In conclusion, those willing to return to their previous workplaces do not need to rush to leave their current schools immediately. You can continue working in your current school even after December 31, 2025, and can apply to the appropriate authority to defer the joining time at the old school. This ensures that both your pay protection and service continuity remain secure.
