SSC Case Update: New Turn in SSC Case! PIL Filed in Supreme Court

SSC Case Update: A new chapter has begun in the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) case. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court, adding a new dimension to this complex legal battle. A candidate named Sayan Adhya has personally filed this case and has stated that he will argue it himself in court. This move has sparked new hope amidst the ongoing anxiety about the future of thousands of job aspirants.
Background of the Case
The origin of this case is the historic verdict of the Calcutta High Court, which canceled about 26,000 jobs. This verdict put the livelihoods of many people in question. After this, several review petitions and SLPs were filed, but the job aspirants did not get much relief. In this situation, Sayan Adhya felt that his fundamental rights have been violated by this verdict. He has claimed that the right to life and personal liberty mentioned in Article 21 of the Indian Constitution has been violated.
Significance of the Public Interest Litigation
Generally, a Public Interest Litigation is filed when a larger public interest is involved in an incident or fundamental rights are violated. In this case, the petitioner feels that the cancellation of 26,000 jobs is not just a matter of a few individuals, but a larger social issue. According to him, it is unfair to punish all the candidates for a few corrupt individuals. He has not appointed any lawyer in this case; he has decided to fight as a “petitioner-in-person”, which makes this case even more unique.
Current Status and Future Possibilities of the Case
Although the case was filed in July 2025, it has not been listed yet due to some procedural defects. The petitioner Sayan Adhya has said that efforts are being made to resolve these defects quickly and he has appealed to everyone for cooperation. Currently, some aspects of this case are very important:
- Plea for Urgent Hearing: The petitioner has requested an urgent hearing so that a decision can be taken on this matter soon.
- Linguistic Complexity: There were some problems in submitting the file in the official language of the Supreme Court, which are being resolved.
- Role of the Supreme Court: The biggest question is, will the Supreme Court go against its own verdict? Although the court can reconsider its verdict, what will happen in this case, only time will tell.
This Public Interest Litigation is a new ray of hope for the SSC job aspirants. Now it remains to be seen how the Supreme Court takes up this case and where its future lies. Stay with us for all the updates.
