SSC Exam Controversy: Despite New Exams, A Section of Jobless Candidates Demand Cancellation Again

SSC Exam Controversy: The controversy surrounding the SSC examination seems never-ending. Even though a new exam was held, a section of the candidates who lost their jobs are once again vocal in their demand for the exam’s cancellation. They allege widespread corruption in the recruitment process and that deserving candidates have been deprived.
Job Aspirants on the Streets for Their Demands
On Friday afternoon, a large procession was taken out from Karunamoyee Metro Station to the SSC building. This procession was joined not only by those who lost their jobs but also by candidates who had recently appeared for the exam. Their main demand was equality. They demanded that if a decision is made to give 10 extra marks based on the experience of the jobless candidates, the number of seats should also be increased. According to the agitators, as per the Supreme Court’s order, the vacancy list can be updated before the interview list is published, but in reality, that has not happened.
Explosive Statement by the Former Chairman
The trial in the SSC recruitment corruption case began on Friday. On the very first day, the former chairman of SSC, Chittaranjan Mondal, gave an explosive statement while giving his testimony. He claimed in court that he was pressured for illegal appointments. He directly pointed fingers at Mukul Roy and Partha Chatterjee. According to him, Partha Chatterjee used to exert pressure indirectly when he was the Industries Minister. This statement has caused a stir in state politics.
The Depth of Corruption and Political Feud
After this statement by Chittaranjan Mondal, the political feud has intensified. The opposition has attacked the ruling party, while the ruling party smells a conspiracy behind it. Mr. Chittaranjan also raised the question of why the rule of providing a carbon copy with the OMR sheet was stopped and why it was later reintroduced. According to him, if the carbon copy was available, it would have been possible to identify the deserving candidates.
Future Steps
The results of the SSC exam are likely to be published after the festival season, and interviews may begin from the first week of November. However, a section of the job aspirants has warned of taking to the streets again with the demand for the cancellation of the exam. They allege that during the examination in various districts like Nadia and Jangipur, there was mass cheating, and incidents like appearing for the exam with mobile devices have also occurred. In this situation, there is no doubt that the controversy over the SSC examination and the recruitment process will escalate further.
