SSC Teacher Protest: Ultimatum Issued for Tainted and Untainted List Publication by Midnight

SSC Teacher Protest: Protesters in the School Service Commission (SSC) corruption case have issued a stern warning, stating they will not leave the streets until their demands are met. Their primary demand is the immediate publication of OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheets and a merit list of eligible candidates. The streets of Kolkata are now in turmoil over this demand.
What are the protesters saying?
The protesters allege that the High Court’s Division Bench had previously ordered the publication of all OMR sheets in the public domain, but the state government is not complying with that order. They insist that a list of qualified candidates is already available with the state government and should be published immediately.
One of the protesters, Mehboob, mentioned a meeting where “officials repeatedly tried to avoid publishing the list of eligible candidates. They claimed they would only publish the list if the Supreme Court ordered it.”
Questions raised about the government’s role
The protesters have described the SSC, which is under the Chief Minister’s control, as an “autonomous body” and have demanded that the list of “ineligible” teachers and non-teaching staff be published by midnight. They have emphasized their unity in this fight and have called on the government to provide the merit list and free them from this “disgrace.”
Officials reportedly also said that if the list were published and any “accident” occurred during the review, the responsibility would lie with the protesters. In response, the protesters have made it clear that they are not worried about their jobs being affected by the list’s publication and have demanded its immediate release.
Future Plans
The protesters have stated that they are prepared to provide affidavits from every candidate, especially those who believe they are “eligible,” for the SSC to present to the Supreme Court. However, they allege that this suggestion has also been ignored.
They have made it clear that they will not bow down to any political power or accept any excuses until their demands are met. They remain steadfast in their demand for the publication of 2.2 million OMR sheets and a merit list based on them.
