SSC Teachers: Finally, Relief! List of SSC Teachers Returning to Their Old Jobs Published

SSC Teachers: The School Service Commission (SSC) has published a new list for teachers whose jobs were canceled in 2016, giving them the opportunity to return to their previous teaching positions in primary schools. This decision was made following a directive from the Supreme Court, which stated that all teachers who were not involved in any corruption or illegal activities could rejoin their former departments.
Source and Date of Notification
This notification has been issued from Bikash Bhavan by the School Education Department of the Government of West Bengal, and its memo date is September 8, 2025. This list and notification have been sent to the Chairman of the District Primary School Council of Purba Medinipur, so that the teachers of that district can return to primary schools.
Legal Basis and Background
This step is the result of a judgment by the Supreme Court on April 3, 2025. In the “State of West Bengal vs. Baishakhi Chatterjee” case, the jobs of 26,000 SSC teachers were canceled. Paragraph 47 of the Supreme Court’s order clearly stated that any teacher who is not ‘Tainted’ and is not involved in any illegality or corruption can apply to join their previous department.
Eligibility and Application Process for Rejoining
All the candidates who were previously working as assistant teachers in primary schools under DPSC Purba Medinipur had submitted applications to return to their old posts. After reviewing the applications, 38 candidates from Purba Medinipur have been approved to rejoin ‘Tainted’ primary schools.
Published List and Names of Teachers
The published “Format B” list contains the names of the teachers, their previous district, employment ID, and details of the high school where they were employed until April 2, 2025.
Future Prospects
It is believed that similar lists will soon be sent to the District Primary School Councils of other districts as well. For now, this step is a sigh of relief for those teachers who lost their jobs despite being faultless.
