TET Data Update: WB Education Department Starts TET Data Collection via Utsashree Portal
TET Data Update: The West Bengal Education Department has initiated a fresh drive to verify the professional qualifications of teachers across the state. Following a recent directive from the Central Ministry of Education, the state has begun collecting data regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualifications of serving teachers. The ‘Utsashree’ portal is being utilized as the primary tool for this massive data aggregation exercise.
Background of the Directive
The initiative stems from a formal communication sent by the Central Ministry of Education to state education departments nationwide. The centre aims to create a comprehensive database regarding the TET qualification status of primary and upper-primary teachers. Specifically, the government seeks to determine the exact number of teachers—recruited both before and after 2011—who have cleared the eligibility test.
The deadline for submitting this consolidated report is set for January 16, 2026. While the deadline appears distant, the state government has proactively started the process to ensure accuracy and compliance. The directive also touches upon potential legal frameworks and relief measures for teachers who do not possess TET qualifications.
Updates on the Utsashree Portal
To facilitate this data collection, the state’s teacher transfer portal, ‘Utsashree’, has been modified. Authorities at the school level and Sub-Inspector (SI) offices are now required to update the service profiles of teachers with these specific details.
Step-by-Step Update Process:
- Login Protocol: Users need to log in via ‘School End’ for high schools or ‘SI End’ for primary schools.
- Menu Navigation: From the dashboard, navigate to ‘Master Directory Management’. Within this menu, select the option labeled ‘Edit Employee Profile After Finalization’.
- Profile Selection: Locate the specific teacher’s name and click on the ‘Edit’ button adjacent to their ‘Personal Details’.
Required Information Fields
Upon accessing the edit page, users will find two newly added fields at the very bottom of the Personal Details section:
- Whether TET Qualified (CTET/STET): This requires a mandatory ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ selection. It is important to note that qualifying in either the Central TET (CTET) or State TET (STET) counts as valid; in such cases, ‘Yes’ should be selected.
- Passing Year: If the answer to the previous question is ‘Yes’, the specific year of passing the examination must be entered.
This data collection drive is being treated with high priority to comply with central norms and to streamline the database for future administrative or legal references. All heads of institutions are expected to complete this task diligently.
