Train Coach Position: The Easy Way to Find Your Coach and Seat on the Train

Train Coach Position: When traveling by train, especially when the train stops at a running station or a station without an LED indicator board, finding your coach and seat can be a major challenge. Many people face this problem and are forced to run along the entire train with heavy luggage. However, there is a simple and effective solution to this problem that will make your journey more comfortable. In this blog post, we will tell you how you can easily find the position of your train coach and seat.
Understand Your Ticket Information
Before you look for your coach and seat, it’s very important to understand the information on your ticket correctly. Your ticket uses some abbreviations, and knowing their meaning will be helpful for you:
- CNF (Confirm): This means your ticket is confirmed and a seat has been allotted to you.
- WL (Waiting List): This means your ticket is not yet confirmed and you have not been allotted a seat.
- RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation): In this case, you may have to share a seat with two passengers.
- Coach Number (e.g., D12): This indicates your coach number.
- Seat Number (e.g., 65): This is your specific seat number within the coach.
- WS (Window Side): This means your seat is next to the window.
Using the “Where Is My Train” App
The easiest way to know the exact position of your train coach and seat is by using the “Where Is My Train” Android application. This app will show you the position of your coach and the seat layout. Below are the steps to use the app:
- Download the App: First, install the “Where Is My Train” app on your Android phone.
- Enter Train Number: After opening the app, enter the five-digit train number from your ticket. You can also search by station or train name.
- View Coach Layout: After the train information loads, click on the “Coach” option at the top of the screen.
- Identify Coach Position: The app will show you a map of all the coaches relative to the engine. For example, if your coach is D12, the app will show you its position from the engine.
- Find Your Seat: By clicking on your specific coach number, you can see the internal seat layout of the coach and easily find your seat number.
Using this method, you will get an approximate idea of where your coach might stop on the platform. As a result, you won’t have to run around with heavy luggage and you can wait at the right spot.
