WBBPE Recruitment: Finally, there is great news for job aspirants in the state. After a long wait, the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) has published the official notification for the recruitment of Assistant Teachers. According to the notification (No. 2367/WBBPE/2025/59R-09/2024) released on 19th November 2025, a total of 13,421 vacancies will be filled in government-aided and government-sponsored primary and junior basic schools across the state. The application process has already started today, 19th November, from the afternoon.

The board has announced that the online application portal has been opened from 3:00 PM on 19th November. Candidates are advised to complete the application process as soon as possible without waiting for the last date.

Vacancy Details and District Preference Rule

A total of 13,421 vacancies will be filled through this recruitment drive. However, candidates must keep a crucial point in mind while applying. During the online form fill-up, applicants must mention their ‘Preferred District’.

The board has clearly stated in the notification that mentioning a preferred district does not guarantee a posting there. The posting in the preferred district will only be considered if vacancies are available in that district according to the applicant’s medium and category. A district-wise list of vacancies has been provided on the board’s portal.

Eligibility and Selection Process

This recruitment process will be conducted as per the West Bengal Primary Teacher Recruitment Rules, 2016 (as amended). The general eligibility criteria mentioned in the notification are as follows:

• Educational Qualification: The applicant must possess the necessary educational qualifications as per the guidelines laid down by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and must be TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) qualified.
• Age Limit: The age limit for general candidates is typically between 18 and 40 years. Reserved category candidates will get age relaxation as per government norms.
• Selection Method: The merit list will be prepared based on academic scores, training marks, TET scores, and an Interview/Aptitude Test.
