WBCHSE: Good News for West Bengal Students! Change Subjects in Class XI, More Time for Class XII Forms

WBCHSE: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has shared some important news for students. One notice is about students repeating Class XI. They can now choose new subjects. Another notice gives more time to some Class XII students to fill up an important form.

Change Your Subjects if You Are Repeating Class XI

The Council has said that students who will repeat Class XI (both Semester I and Semester II) in the new semester system can make a fresh start with their subjects. This information is from notification number L/PR/296/2025, dated May 23, 2025.

Who can do this?

• Students who will repeat Class XI (Semester I and Semester II) under the new semester system of the Council.

What can you do?

• You can choose a new set of subjects starting from Semester I.
• You can pick subjects from any of the three sets offered (Set I, Set II, or Set III) as per the rules.
• A key thing to remember is that the subjects you want must be available at your school.

How to apply?

• Your school or someone your school sends will need to go to the Council’s Regional Office.
• They must bring these papers:
  • A recommendation letter from the Head of your school.
  • Your registration certificate.
  • Your mark sheet from the Secondary Examination (Class 10).
  • Any fees that are needed.

When does this start?

This new rule started on May 23, 2025, and will stay until the Council says otherwise.

More Time to Fill “Option Form” for Class XII Students

In another notice (No.: L/PR/294/2025, dated May 23, 2025), the Council has given more time for some students to fill up the “Option Form”. This form is for studying in Class XII under the new semester system for the school year 2025-2026.

Who is this for?

• Students who have passed their Class XI Annual Examination but did not take or pass the Test Examination or H.S. (Higher Secondary) Examination yet.

What is the update?

• The last date to fill up the “Option Form” has been moved from May 31, 2025, to June 30, 2025.

How to fill the form?

• The form must be filled online through the Council’s portal: https://wbchseapp.wb.gov.in/portal/dashboard_school.
• Schools will use their login to do this.

What This Means for Students

These are helpful steps from the WBCHSE. If you are repeating Class XI, you now have a chance to pick subjects that might be better for you. If you are going to Class XII and meet the conditions, you have more time to complete your Option Form.
