WBSSC: Supreme Court Order Followed, ‘Tainted’ List Published by SSC, Application for New Recruitment Starts Today

WBSSC: Today is an important day for the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC). On the same day, on one hand, the list of ineligible candidates for Group C and Group D posts has been published as per the Supreme Court’s direction, and on the other hand, the application process for new recruitment for several thousand vacancies has also started today, November 3, 2025.

‘Tainted’ List Published on Supreme Court’s Order

There was widespread curiosity among job seekers about this list ever since the Supreme Court’s verdict on job cancellations. Today, the School Service Commission has published that long-awaited list on its official website. According to Commission sources, this list contains a total of 3,512 names who were found to have discrepancies in their recruitment and were marked as ”Tainted’.

The publication of this list brings an end to a long legal battle. The most important aspect is that, as per the Supreme Court’s order, candidates named in this list will not be able to participate in the new recruitment process that starts today. This step is expected to bring transparency to future appointments.

New Recruitment Begins for 8478 Posts

Amidst the publication of the ineligible list, the Commission has brought good news for lakhs of job aspirants in the state. Starting today, online applications have begun for Group C (Clerk) and Group D (Support Staff) posts through the 1st State Level Selection Test (1st SLST 2025). The commencement of applications after a long time has brought new hope to the job seekers.

According to the Commission’s notification, a total of 8,478 vacancies will be filled through this recruitment process. The post-wise breakdown is given below:

Important Information Regarding Application

Eligible and interested candidates can apply online through the official website of the West Bengal School Service Commission (westbengalssc.com). It is advisable to read the notification thoroughly before applying.

Application Start Date: November 3, 2025

Last Date to Submit Application: December 3, 2025 (until 5 PM)

Age Limit: The applicant’s age must be between 18 and 40 years. Candidates from reserved categories will get relaxation in the upper age limit as per government rules.

Educational Qualification: A minimum of Class VIII pass is required for Group D posts, and Madhyamik (10th) or equivalent qualification is required for Group C (Clerk) posts.
