MEMORANDUM

Every year, 1st July is commemorated as a Doctors’ Day as a mark of respect for the services rendered by the medical fraternity. This day also happens to be the Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. C. Roy, former Chief Minister of the State.

The world is passing through a grave medical emergency arising due to COVID not experienced ever before by the mankind. Lakhs and lakhs of medical professionals including doctors, nursing staff, paramedical staff and other frontline workers, police personnel and workers of other wings of the State administration are working day and night to combat the disease. These Covid Warriors are risking their lives to save the people.

As a mark of respect for their exemplary services and show of solidarity in recognition to the brave fight of doctors, nursing and paramedical staff and all others frontline workers against COVID, and also to observe birth anniversary of Dr. B.C. Roy, the State Government has decided to observe 1st July, 2020 (Wednesday) as a State Government holiday in all State Government Offices, Educational Institutions, Rural and Urban Bodies, other Grant-in-Aid Institutions, Boards, Corporations etc.
