SSC Application: Good news for job aspirants in West Bengal. After a long wait, the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) has finally released the notification for the recruitment of Assistant Teachers at the Secondary and Higher Secondary levels, and the application process begins today, June 16, 2025. Additionally, it is expected that the recruitment notification for Clerk and Group-D posts will also be released soon.
Assistant Teacher Recruitment (SLST 2025)
- Vacancies: Approximately 35,726 vacancies for Assistant Teachers will be filled across Secondary (IX-X) and Higher Secondary (XI-XII) levels.
- Application Process: The application must be submitted entirely online.
- Application Start: June 16, 2025
- Application End: July 14, 2025
- Tentative Exam Date: First week of September 2025.
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the relevant subject and a B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution.
- Selection Process: The final panel will be prepared based on the Written Exam, academic qualifications, oral interview, and a lecture demonstration.
Expectations for Clerk and Group-D Recruitment
Although the notification for teacher recruitment has been released, the notifications for Clerk and Group-D posts are yet to be published. The Plight of Protesting Sacked Teachers
While a new recruitment process is underway, nearly 26,000 teachers and non-teaching staff, who lost their jobs following a Calcutta High Court order, are continuing their protest to demand their reinstatement. Many of them are on a hunger strike, leading to several falling ill. The protestors allege that they have not received any support from the administration.
