Aikyashree Scholarship: A Special Initiative by the State Government for Minority Students

Aikyashree Scholarship: The Aikyashree Scholarship, managed by the West Bengal Minorities’ Development & Finance Corporation (WBMDFC), is a significant initiative for meritorious students from minority communities (Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Sikh, Jain, Parsi) in West Bengal. The main objective of this scholarship is to encourage students to pursue higher education and reduce the school dropout rate. For the 2025-26 academic year, the application process started on June 25, 2025, and the last date to apply is August 31, 2025.

Eligibility for Aikyashree Scholarship

To apply for this scholarship, certain eligibility criteria must be met:

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
  • The student must belong to a minority community.
  • Annual family income must not exceed ₹2 lakh.

Types of Scholarships

The Aikyashree Scholarship is mainly of two types:

  1. Pre-matric Scholarship: For students from the second to the tenth grade.
  2. Post-matric Scholarship: For students from the eleventh grade to the college level. This is further divided into two categories:
    • Aikyashree Scholarship: For those who scored less than 60% in their previous qualifying exams.
    • Aikyashree Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship (SVMCM): For those who scored 60% or more.

Application Process

The application process is entirely online and requires the following steps:

  • Application on the Official Portal: Applicants must apply through the wbmdfcscholarship.in website.
  • Registration and Form Submission: First, register, then fill out the application form and submit it to your respective school or college.
  • Renewal: Students from the second to the tenth and twelfth grades do not need to re-apply for renewal. If eligible, they will receive a confirmation via SMS. Only first-grade students, those in a new school, or those entering the eleventh grade need to apply online.
