Your Complete Guide to Getting Durga Puja Permission Online

Durga Puja Permission: The festive season is almost here, and everyone is gearing up for the celebrations. Durga Puja means pandals, lights, and crowds. But for all this, proper permission is required. To simplify this process, the West Bengal government has launched an online portal called ‘Aasan’ (www.aasan.wb.gov.in). This year, applications can be submitted on this portal from August 29th to September 18th. Let’s delve into each step of this online application process in detail.

Registration for New and Old Users

Those applying for the first time on this portal need to sign up with their name, email, phone number, and district. Your registration will be completed through an OTP (One-Time Password) verification.

If you applied last year, you don’t need to sign up again. By logging in with your old phone number and OTP, your previous details will be auto-filled. If your old phone number is no longer active, you can apply to change it through the “Change Request” option.

The Application Process: Five Simple Steps

The application form is divided into five steps. You need to provide the correct information in each step.

Step 1: Festival Details

  • Select “Durga Puja” as the festival.
  • Provide the puja address, district, block, nearest fire station, festival start date, and budget.
  • Enter the club’s name, theme (if any), subdivision, post office, police station, and pin code.
  • Mention the club’s registration number (if applicable), Gram Panchayat or Ward name, festival end date, and source of electricity (WBSEDCL by default).

Step 2: Organizer’s Details

  • Provide the President or Secretary’s name, father’s/husband’s name, email ID, and phone number.
  • Mention the date of the inauguration ceremony (if any), the number of volunteers, and how many celebrities are expected.
  • State the idol’s height and the date, time, and location of the immersion procession.
  • Agree to the necessary declarations for fire safety measures.

Step 3: Land Information

  • Specify whether the puja is being held on private, government, or other land.
  • If it’s on private land, confirm that you have a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the landowner and provide the owner’s name, phone number, and address.

Step 4: Electricity Information

  • Mention last year’s electricity meter consumer number and the sanctioned load (in kW).
  • Provide the current electrician’s name, license number, and phone number.

Step 5: Fire-Related Information

  • Specify the pandal area (in square feet) and list the materials used for its construction (e.g., bamboo, cloth).
  • Mention the decorator’s name, address, and trade license number.
  • Agree to various declarations regarding fire safety, emergency vehicle access, and gate dimensions.

Document Upload and Final Permission

After filling in all the information, you will need to upload some important documents. These documents must be in JPG or PDF format and under 100 KB.

  • Copy of last year’s Puja permission NOC
  • Pandal site plan
  • Current year’s land NOC
  • Electrician’s declaration form
  • Decorator’s declaration and safety declaration
  • PCB Undertaking

After uploading the documents, you will need to pay the WBSEDCL bill online or offline. Once all the NOCs (from WBSEDCL and the Fire Department) turn green, your final permission will be granted.

This online process is undoubtedly a great convenience for puja committees. It maintains transparency and saves time. So, apply on time without delay and immerse yourself in the joy of the festival.
