SLST Exam: Big Announcement for WBSSC! SSC Chairman Lays Out New Directives at Press Meet

SLST Exam Guidelines: The Chairman of the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC), Mr. Siddharta Majumder, has announced important information and strict security measures for the upcoming School Service Commission (SSC) examinations. It is crucial for all candidates to be aware of these new rules.

Important Schedule and Attendance

Candidates are required to be present at the examination center by 10:00 AM on the day of the exam. Although the initial reporting time was 11:00 AM, it has been moved up to accommodate thorough security checks. This revised 10:00 AM schedule has also been promoted through media channels.

Number of Candidates and Centers

A total of approximately 565,000 candidates will appear for both examinations. For the first day’s exam, there will be about 319,919 candidates across 636 centers. For the second day’s exam (for 11th and 12th grade), approximately 246,500 candidates will participate across 478 centers.

Security Measures and Permitted Items

Every candidate will have to go through a primary security check before entering the examination hall. Candidates are only allowed to carry a transparent pen. However, for convenience, pens will also be provided at each examination center.

What to bring:

  • Admit card with a barcode scanner.
  • A personal photo ID card.

Prohibited Items:

  • Mobile phones
  • Any kind of watch
  • Non-transparent water bottles
  • Any papers other than the admit card and photo ID card

If there is any issue with the photo or signature on the admit card, the candidate must submit a self-attested photocopy of their original photo ID card at the center.

Question Paper and OMR Sheet Security

The question papers will have multiple security features, making it easy to detect if a paper has been copied. There will be unique security features for each of the 319,000 candidates. The OMR sheets also include special security measures.

Candidates will receive a sealed packet containing both the question booklet and the OMR answer sheet. The seal of the question booklet cannot be broken before the official start time. It is mandatory to correctly fill out sections 1 to 5 on the OMR sheet; otherwise, the answer sheet will be considered canceled. Invigilators will verify the candidate’s signature on the OMR sheet.

Facilities at the Centers

  • Cloakroom: Facilities will be available at each venue for candidates to securely store valuable items.
  • For Female Candidates: There will be a separate, enclosed area for security checks conducted by female security staff.
  • Metal Detectors: Metal detectors will be used for security checks.

Examination Commencement and Rules

Question papers will be distributed to the centers between 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM, and they will be distributed to candidates around 11:45 AM. Candidates can start writing their answers from 12:00 PM.

Other Important Information

A control room will be operational from 8:00 AM on the exam day. Internet services will not be shut down, as officials may need to communicate. There will be one observer for each examination center, who are typically college and university professors. Invigilators and other officials will be allowed to carry mobile phones up to the venue in-charge’s room, but not inside the examination hall.
