WB Primary Teacher Recruitment 2025: The West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) has finally released the notification for primary teacher recruitment. A total of 13,421 Assistant Teachers will be recruited in state government-aided/sponsored primary schools. This is a massive opportunity for job aspirants who have been waiting for a long time. Educational Qualification

To apply, candidates must possess any one of the following qualifications:

  • Option 1: Higher Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
  • Option 2: Higher Secondary or its equivalent with at least 45% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (as per NCTE regulations).
  • Option 3: Higher Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Option 4: Higher Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  • Option 5: Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

Note: In addition to the above qualifications, candidates must have passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education.

Age Limit

As of January 1, 2025, the applicant’s age must be:

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 40 years

Candidates from reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, PwD, Exempted Category, Ex-Servicemen, and Para Teachers) will receive relaxation in the upper age limit as per government norms.

Selection Process & Marks Distribution

The merit list will be prepared based on a total of 50 marks. The breakdown of the marks is as follows:

  • Madhyamik or equivalent examination: 05 marks
  • Higher Secondary or equivalent examination: 10 marks
  • Training (as specified by NCTE): 15 marks
  • Teacher Eligibility Test (TET): 05 marks
  • Extra-Curricular Activities: 05 marks
  • Viva-Voce/Interview: 05 marks
  • Aptitude Test/Teaching experience (for Para-Teachers): 05 marks
  • Total: 50 marks

Application Fee

Applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee online.

  • General Category: ₹ 600/-
  • OBC-A & B Category: ₹ 500/-
  • SC/ST/EWS/PwD Category: ₹ 300/-

Application Process

Interested candidates must apply online. The schedule for the opening of the application portal and other details will be notified by the Board shortly. Candidates will be required to give their preference for the District Primary School Council (DPSC)/Primary School Council (PSC).
