Nationwide Protest Call Over TET! Gathering in Delhi Against Supreme Court Ruling, Preparations in Full Swing from West Bengal
TET Protest: Discontent is brewing among the teaching community across India regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). Following a Supreme Court verdict mandating that even teachers appointed before 2011 must clear the TET, lakhs of teachers are facing uncertainty. To address this situation and draw the government’s attention, preparations for a massive nationwide movement have begun. Many teachers from West Bengal are also gearing up to join this protest.
Details of the Movement
The newly formed Teacher Federation of India (TFI) has taken the initiative to unite teachers from all over the country. The organization has called for a large-scale, peaceful protest gathering in Delhi. The date for the movement has been set for 24th November 2025. It has also been reported that a major rally will be held the following day, on 25th November. The historic Ramlila Maidan in Delhi has been chosen as the venue for this protest program.
The primary objective of this movement is to convey the plight of the teachers to the Prime Minister of the country. Scale of Preparations
The organizers of the movement state that this protest is expected to have an impact similar to the farmers’ movement in Delhi. On 24th November, teachers from across the country will gather at Ramlila Maidan. Teacher organizations from West Bengal have already established contact with TFI and are preparing to join this movement in full force.
The Path Forward
Two potential paths are being considered to resolve this complex situation. Firstly, all teachers must unite and fight together, setting aside their differences. The second and potentially more effective path is for the government to introduce a bill in the upcoming winter session of the Lok Sabha to amend the relevant law. The protesting teachers believe that a permanent solution to this problem is only possible if the government proceeds with a legislative amendment.
