Aadhaar PVC Card: The Aadhaar card is one of the most important identity documents for Indian citizens. Recently, a significant change has been observed in the process of ordering PVC Aadhaar cards on the official website of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Previously, common users could easily order a PVC card directly from the website without any login. However, in the context of 2026 or recent updates, this facility is no longer available. This change has caused some confusion among general users.

Missing Option from Main Website

Earlier, visiting the homepage of the official UIDAI website would directly show an option named “Order Aadhaar PVC Card”. Users could easily order cards by clicking there and entering their Aadhaar number or Enrollment ID. But now, that rule has changed. Currently, only the “Check Aadhaar PVC Card Status” option is visible on the homepage. This means it is no longer possible to order a PVC card directly from the public page.

Rules for Ordering via New Method

According to the new rules, a user must log in to the ‘My Aadhaar’ portal to order a PVC card. The steps are as follows:

1. First, you need to log in to the portal using your Aadhaar number and Captcha code via OTP. For this, your mobile number must be linked with Aadhaar.
2. After successfully logging in, the “Order Aadhaar PVC Card” option will be visible on the dashboard.
3. Clicking there will display a preview of the user’s photo and other details. Then, the order can be completed by making the payment.

Facility to Order for Self and Others

After logging in, two new options have been added to the order page, which will provide some convenience to users:

• Self: If you want to order a card for yourself, you must select this option. This will use the details of your logged-in account.
• Others: If you want to order a PVC card for any other family member or friend, you can choose this option.

After selecting the ‘Others’ option, you have to provide that person’s Aadhaar number and a mobile number. Note that this mobile number does not necessarily have to be linked with Aadhaar. The order can be completed by verifying the OTP sent to the provided number.

What Are the Current Issues?

Although it is believed that this change has been made for security reasons, common people are facing several problems.

• Issue with Enrollment ID (EID) Orders: Previously, PVC cards could be ordered using the Enrollment Number. This was particularly useful for new Aadhaar cards for children or for those who had their Aadhaar generated but hadn’t received the physical copy. The new method has no option to order using the Enrollment Number.
• Server Issues: Many users are complaining that the server often remains down while using the ‘Others’ option, making it impossible to complete the order.
• Accessibility: Those whose mobile numbers are not linked with Aadhaar cannot log in directly themselves. Although it is possible to do this through the ‘Others’ option using someone else’s login ID, it is an added hassle.

Changes at a Glance

While the exact reason for removing the direct order option from the main Aadhaar website is not clearly known, it is assumed that this has been done for data protection or security reasons. However, the discontinuation of the facility to order via Enrollment ID may create some complications for new Aadhaar subscribers.
