Digitize Caste Certificate: Complete Guide to Digitizing SC, ST, OBC Certificates in West Bengal

Digitize Caste Certificate: The process of digitizing old, handwritten caste certificates (SC, ST, OBC) has now become much easier. Through the new portal of the West Bengal government, you can do this work from the comfort of your home. In this post, we will discuss the entire process step-by-step so that you can digitize your certificate without any problems.

Why is it necessary to digitize the certificate?

A digital certificate is easily usable in various government and private sectors. There is less fear of it getting lost, and it can be downloaded online at any time. The new digital version has a unique application number that helps verify its authenticity. Therefore, it is very important to convert the old handwritten certificate into a digital format.

What is required for the application?

Before starting the application process, keep the following documents ready:

  • Old caste certificate
  • Aadhaar card (mandatory)
  • A recent color passport-size photograph (JPEG, within 50 KB)
  • A scanned copy of the old caste certificate (JPEG, within 100 KB)
  • A valid mobile number

Application Process

Step 1: Visit the official website

First, you need to go to the official caste certificate portal of the Government of West Bengal: https://castcertificatewb.gov.in/

Step 2: Select the “Backlog Certificate” option

Click on the “Backlog Certificate” option on the website’s homepage. Then, from the dropdown menu, select “Apply for Digitized Certificate for SC ST OBC.”

Step 3: Fill out the form

In this step, you need to fill in all the information accurately:

  • Enter your old or manual certificate number and the date of issue.
  • Type the name of the Issuing Authority.
  • Select your caste (SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B) and the relevant sub-caste.
  • Special Note: For OBC candidates, it is advisable to apply directly through the “Apply for OBC” option, as it automatically digitizes the old certificate number. However, SC and ST candidates must use the “Backlog Certificate” option.
  • Enter your religion, full name as on the certificate, father’s name, date of birth, and gender.
  • Correctly enter your Aadhaar number, mobile number, district, subdivision, police station, post office, block, Gram Panchayat, and PIN code.

Step 4: Upload documents

After filling the form, you need to upload the scanned copy of your old caste certificate and your color photograph within the specified size limits.

Step 5: Submit the application

Finally, fill in the captcha code and click the “Submit” button. After successful submission, you will receive an application number. Click on the “Click Here” option to download the acknowledgment slip.

Step 6: Check status and download the certificate

  • Check Status: Go to the “Backlog Certificate” option and click on “Check Application Status for Digitized Certificate.” You can check the status (pending, rejected, or successful) by searching with your application number.
  • Download Certificate: If the application is successful, go to the “SC ST” option and click on “Download Certificate.” Download the certificate by entering your acknowledgment number and name.

By following this simple process, you can easily digitize your old caste certificate and keep it secure for the future.
